Superintendent's Message
Welcome to the South Spencer County School Corporation website. The faculty and staff of the South Spencer County School Corporation are excited to begin a new school year. We are dedicated to educating, motivating, challenging, and serving every student in their quest to learn, achieve, and be successful in every endeavor they pursue. The School Board, administrators, teachers, and staff work together to provide a wide range of programs, instructional practices, and activities that enhance each student’s opportunity to learn and succeed.
The 2025-2026 school year promises to be an exciting and positive time for all Rebels. We’re thrilled to welcome two new members to our leadership team. Mr. Corbe Hill is the new principal at Rockport Elementary School and Mrs. Rebecca McCaffery is our new Director of Curriculum and Instruction. We look forward to working with of them as we continue to expand and improve our curricular offerings and instructional practices, which will in turn, provide additional opportunities for our students to excel.
The growth of our Career Technical Educational program at South Spencer High School continues, and students will begin working internships this school year. We are especially excited to have three students in the Educational Pathway working at Luce Elementary this school year. The Precision Agriculture Pathway will incorporate a new greenhouse to provide students with hands on learning experiences this school year, and all our Pathways continue to expand learning opportunities for students. South Spencer High School has earned the designation as an Indiana College Core School. We are extremely proud to now offer students up to 77 college credits in Dual Credit course offerings. We greatly appreciate our relationship with Ivy Tech and look forward to offering even more courses that qualify for college credit. Luce and Rockport will continue to implement the Science of Reading strategies that helped our students surpass the 95% pass rate on the IREAD exam.
It is truly an honor and privilege to begin my fourth year as your superintendent. I’m very excited to be part of such an outstanding organization and community. I’ve been part of public education or over 35 years and it is my passion. I’m excited to be part of this team and look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure the South Spencer County School Corporation is committed to continual improvement. By doing so we will add to the rich history of successes our schools, students, and communities have enjoyed. Rebel pride is real, and we are dedicated to preserving and improving our schools, programs, instructional practices and opportunities for all current and future Rebels. The South Spencer County School Corporation is blessed to have parents and a community that fully supports our goals and efforts to put Kids First. This bond, and sense of family, is strong. By working together and creating a positive environment and community, our families and kids can grow and mature knowing they are important, supported, and loved. I hope you will join the South Spencer County School Corporation team whether you are a student, parent, grand parent, business leader, or a community member. By working together, I’m certain we can achieve great things. I wish everyone an enjoyable, safe, and successful 2025-2026 school year.
